ARRIVAL OF MARE

MOST IMPORTANT - call ahead and let us know when you will be arriving.

The 6666 Horse Division has privacy gates that remain closed during certain times of the day and evening. This requires a person to be present in the office to be available to answer the gates call.

HAUL-IN breeders are accepted by appointment. Breeding fees are to be paid in advance of this breeding, and you should order an on-site contract when you call to make your mare delivery appointment.

Please provide us with any pertinent health or reproductive information concerning the mare. This information can be vital to your mare's conception success.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS (Provide last dates given if mare is current):

STREP
ENDOVAC (Salmonella)
FLU (Influenza)
RHINO / EEE/WEE
TETANUS
WEST NILE

ROTAVIRUS (Race Mares)
Rabies
EVA (Equine Viral Arteritis)

If no vaccination information is available when mare arrives, we will perform these
vaccinations. The overall health of your mare is of utmost importance
.


EVA:  All broodmares arriving at the 6666 Ranch are required to have original documentation of the following -
signed by a licensed veterinarian:
Vaccination with Fort Dodge ARVAC (Equine Viral Arteritis Vaccine) - not less than 30 days prior to arrival.

 ** OR** 

                    Negative Equine Viral Arteritis (Serum Neutralization) Test - within 30 days prior to arrival

NOTE:  All non-vaccinated, test negative, non-lactating, non-pregnant mares will be vaccinated upon arrival with Fort Dodge ARVAC.
Vaccination of mares NURSING FOALS is NOT RECOMMENDED - but TESTING is REQUIRED.

CURRENT HEALTH CERTIFICATE issued by a licensed veterinarian is required.

A NEGATIVE COGGINS dated within 6 months must accompany your mare. If the mare arrives without one, we will perform one the day she arrives.

DEWORMING: Mares are dewormed every 60 days.
Your mare will be dewormed upon arrival at 6666 Ranch unless we are provided with documentation of her last deworming and the type of medication used.

FOALING DATE AND SIRE OF FOAL are necessary for mare arriving with a current-year foal at side. A foal heat mare will not be bred until the foal is at least 8 days old.

LAST BREEDING DATE is necessary for any mare arriving at 6666 Ranch in foal.

ULTRASOUND FEE: A one-time fee of $50.00 will be charged upon arrival of mare

PALPATION FEE: $12.00 each palpation

FARRIER: A farrier comes to the 6666 Ranch regularly to provide routine foot care.


POST-BREEDING PROCEDURES AND DEPARTURE OF MARE

Most Important: Please call ahead to schedule the departure of your mare.

A POST CARD will be mailed letting you know the last breeding date and the approximate date that we will check your mare for pregnancy. An additional postcard will be mailed with the results of this pregnancy exam (13 or 14 days from ovulation). However, we
recommend that the mare stay until she is approximately 30 days in foal. We will call you when your mare is ready to go home.

DEPARTURE OF MARE: Your outstanding balance is due at this time and must be paid before the mare leaves 6666 Ranch. If you use a hauler to bring or pick up your mare, please provide him with the necessary paperwork and information, or call ahead to provide this information. Please advise the hauler to inform us of estimated time of arrival at 6666 Ranch.

BREEDERS CERTIFICATES: Breeders Certificates may be requested on this website, or call 6666 Ranch during business hours to speak to office personnel.
