The conception rate of mares bred to 6666 stallions is consistently excellent whether breeding on-site or utilizing transported semen. Rest assured that 6666 Ranch will not ship low-quality semen. Please read the following information carefully, to ensure your own success.
6666 Ranch Office Personnel is available for your assistance from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday-Friday. Please do NOT order semen from 6666 Ranch by leaving a message on the answering machine, by email, or by fax. Please make every effort to order semen the day BEFORE you want it shipped. Shipped semen is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with mares on the farm taking first priority. Orders made later than 8:00 A.M. on collection day are at a higher risk of refusal.
6666 is operating on a routine collection and shipping procedure that you need to be familiar with to manage your mare properly. This routine will not be altered for individual cases.

Do not attempt to utilize cooled transported semen for mares with reproductive problems.
Otherwise, good planning is the key to breeding your mare with transported cooled semen. Mares should be on a regular teasing and ultrasound examination schedule, since timing is of utmost importance. An experienced, competent Mare Management Facility, or a Veterinarian with extensive cooled transported semen experience should be employed.
Call AHEAD before you actually order semen, and be aware of the following:
• We prefer to ship by Federal Express; however, Fed Ex does NOT pick up on Saturday or Sunday at 6666 Ranch. Also, some mares may need same-day service in coordination with ovulation. Airport information is as follows:

A. 6666 Ranch uses a courier service provided by AIRNET Systems to manage same-day transported semen. To contact the AIRNET Tracking Service, call 1-888-888-TIME (8643). Account number is 205060.
B. Stallions are collected after 8:00 a.m. for early evening departures from Lubbock. We do not alter this routine for an individual shipment. Therefore, most of the semen arrivals will be late evening--and some could be very late, depending on your location. There are some locations and airlines that are not accessible at all from Lubbock, Texas. If you may need to ship semen by airline, call ahead well in advance to confirm that a flight will be available. We cannot guarantee flight schedules.

• A Signed and Completed Breeding Contract must be on file at 6666 Ranch
• A Shipping Fee of $250 must be pre-paid for EACH SHIPMENT (for most stallions). Cooled semen shipped by airline fee is $350. The additional $100 can be paid by credit card.

These fees have been carefully set in accordance with other breeding facilities and cannot be altered. We do not collect an Equitainer deposit. The $250 pre-payment will apply to the shipping fees when the semen is shipped.
Remember: a cooled semen contract does NOT guarantee semen will be available. Mares on the farm get first priority, and each stallion has different limits. Cooled semen requests are handled on first-come first-served basis. Following the above guidelines will offer you the highest rate of success.
RECEIVING SEMEN: A form describing your dose of semen is provided in the Equitainer. Normally, 2 doses will not be available, especially during the busiest part of the season. If the semen arrives in poor condition, please contact Dr. Glenn Blodgett as soon as possible. We make every effort to send a viable dose for your breeding. Also, please inform us if the Equitainer appears to have been tampered with.
TO RETURN EQUITAINER: After semen is removed from shipping container, coolant cans and all contents should be returned in the Equitainer. You may return the pink copy of the insemination certificate in the Equitainer, but please do place it in the PLASTIC BAG. Mail the white copy to the AQHA. MULTIPLE EMBRYOS: It is VITAL that you inform 6666 Ranch within 48 hours if 2 or more embryos are implanted. A stallion service fee is due for EACH pregnancy. The breeding privilege is for one pregnancy. In the case of a syndicated stallion - there may be a full book of mares and it may be very difficult to locate an additional breeding. |
