One Famous Eagle Syndicated
By Richard Chamberlain
Q-RACING JOUNRAL—JUNE 8, 2013—One Famous Eagle, who last year broke First Down Dash’s record as the all-time-leading freshman sire, has been syndicated.
The 8-year-old stallion’s syndication was patterned on the original one done for Dash For Cash, which was also successfully used by Streakin Six, First Down Dash and others. One Famous Eagle’s ownership was broken into 40 shares, with two breedings per share. He will continue standing at Burnett Ranches’ Four Sixes Ranch at Guthrie, Texas. AQHA Executive Committee member and Four Sixes general manager of the horse division Dr. Glenn Blodgett helped form the syndicate.
“I've worked with this (pattern of) syndication in several other instances,” said Dr. Blodgett. “So from an administration standpoint it works very well and it is very well accepted in the industry.
“I am so fortunate to have been involved with a lot of great horses, and One Famous Eagle has certainly established himself as one of those,” Dr. Blodgett said.
As a first-year sire in 2012, One Famous Eagle got the earners of $2,932,390, including All American Futurity (G1) winner and world champion One Dashing Eagle. One Famous Eagle’s mark broke the previous freshman-sire earnings record of $2,370,370 set in 1991 by the stallion that today is all-time leading sire.
A career earner of $1,387,453 in two seasons on the track, One Famous Eagle won seven of 11 races, including the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, Golden State Derby and Los Alamitos Super Derby. Retired after lighting the board in Jess You And I’s Champion of Champions (G1), One Famous Eagle left the track as the 2008 champion sophomore colt.
One Famous Eagle is one of seven champions and 104 other stakes winners by champion Mr Jess Perry, the breed’s living leading sire. One Famous Eagle is one of four winners from 11 starters out of One Famous Lady ($172,515), a stakes-placed and Grade 1-qualified daughter of Chicks Beduino. One Famous Eagle’s second dam is One Slick Cookie by Dash For Cash, the sire of First Down Dash.
Bred by AQHA First Vice President Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas, and raised on the Four Sixes, One Famous Eagle raced for the partnership of Trotter and Burnett Ranches. Since entering stud, One Famous Eagle has stood at Four Sixes.
“This is something special to be involved with,” Dr. Blodgett said. “It's one of the most well-received syndications I've ever been involved with. Everybody has been very positive about the opportunity and has just been tickled to be a part of it.
“One Famous Eagle has a great future as a sire,” Dr. Blodgett continued. “He's following in the footsteps of a lot of other great horses I've been involved with, and each of them are all special in their own way.”
